Cancelled postal card mailed from Ashfork (Ash Fork), Ariz., Oct 4, 1910. The town is spelled with one word in the canceller. Freight carried to Jerome traveled part way along Ash Creek. It was so named because of a group of small ash trees. The creek divided into three forks at its mouth and rejoined where the town of Ash Fork was built. The original town burned in 1893, but was rebuilt on the other side of the tracks.
