Cancelled envelope mailed from Guthrie, Ariz., December 21, 1910. This point on the Arizona and New Mexico railroad was named for Guthrie Smith who with J. Duncan Smith sold land to the Arizona Copper Co. In 1883, the railroad was built to reach its mines at Clifton. Guthrie was a busy transportation point 60 years ago as freight was moved. The post office was established February 6, 1901 and discontinued August 15, 1922.
