Cancelled envelope mailed from Dragoon, Arizona, April 19, 1882. The post office was established on June 20, 1881. This is the earliest known cover bearing a Dragoon postmark, although the post office had been open for ten months by this time. Cassius M. Hooker, who was the first postmaster, had been replaced by Woodson A. Langhorne on Marche 24, 1882. The 13-cent total postage includes ten cents for registration.
